The Love of money brings death…. God Brings Life

The deception about the war between the states (civil war)
For over 150 years America has been taught that the war between the states (the “civil war”) was fought over slavery.  In a very abstract way it was, but did you know that there were many white slaves also and that not one Southern port ever received a slave ship?  That’s right, they all came in from Northern ports.  Why is that?  Could it have been for the love of money in the North? These, along with many other historical facts clearly indicate that the love of money in the North is what the war was all about; not slavery.

The Truth about the Spanish-American War
The cause of the Spanish-American War of 1898 in Cuba is of very dubious origin.  This fact is related in a movie called “The Rough-riders”; an all volunteer army unit assembled to go to Cuba for the purpose of ejecting the Spanish who had controlled Cuba for 400 years. In the movie, while some soldiers are sitting around on a dark and rainy night, they were pondering exactly why some men had already died and why many more would also either be maimed or die the next day in battle.

Why were they there?  Some questioned if it was for oil interests.  In other words, were they just government-sanctioned mercenaries doing the dirty work of powerful corporations that were at America’s helm?  Were they there for the love of money, unknowingly sacrificing themselves to America’s money God?

For the Love of Money
The Bible is often misquoted as saying that “money is the root of all evil”.  But the clear meaning of the verse is

“the love of money is the root of all sorts of evil” 1 Timothy 1:6.

It has now been over 150 years since the war between the states with untold sacrifices of family, friends, shattered lives and death as the result of untold numbers of American wars and conflicts.  Why?  Money.

Greed brings grief to the whole family….  Proverbs 15:27

America is clearly grieved right now.  Much of the reason for that grieving is it has turned from God and embraced the love of money.  The decision makers of the world, including America, worship the god of money.  That direction establishes a course that trickles down, consuming almost all, to the poorest welfare mom in the smallest apartment on the North side of town.

but those who hate bribes will live  Proverbs 15:27

You can set yourself apart from those who are full of grief
Money is not evil; rather it is the LOVE of money that is the problem. Revelation 18:4 says;

“Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins,
and that ye receive not of her plagues.

God is the righteous judge of all the earth. The Bible clearly promises that those who seek Him will be blessed in this life and live on in eternal glory with Him.  But when you live in a house of greed that worships the money god, it can be challenging to not follow the same pattern.

God knows that.  Adam had the same problem.  But Adam gave in but you have what you need for victory. Romans 5:17 says

“that if by one man’s (Adams) offense death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.”

Deliverance is waiting for you now
The use of real money  (American’s haven’t used real money in America since 1968) is a very Biblical concept and obviously, we all utilize money.   Using money is not the subject of this article; rather it is the love of money.

But American’s live in a country that has made money one of their most worshiped idols to serve. It is challenging to live with an eternal perspective in a materialistic society.    But God is calling His people out of the world to make Him our God.

God’s people have often faced challenges. But just as He led Israel across the Red Sea, to leave Egypt, when there was no other way out, God can also make a way for you where there is no way.    Today, purpose to leave materialism and the love of money behind.  Seek God in all that you think, say and do.  That is where real freedom can be found.

I’ll see you out in the field,
Parson Rayphe
